Release Overview

Being the first major “dot” release of Smaart Data Modeler, 1.1 features several quality-of-life improvements to assist in project management workflow as well as some brand new functions. Data Modeler’s right-click menus have been reorganized into submenus for a smoother workflow, and you are now greeted with a Project Management window during Data Modeler’s initial launch sequence.

1.1 also features the new ability to export your Data Modeler project's DSP settings to an .xml file for direct import into Powersoft’s ArmoniaPlus control software, expanding its cross-platform integration into new territory.

We’ve also added an Average Time Reference mechanism for average traces, created as an average of the contributing traces’ MTRs. With this comes the ability to sum average traces together.

We look forward to expanding Data Modeler's feature set and overall functionality in future updates as it continues to mature.

Project Management Window

When opening Data Modeler v1.1, you will be greeted with a Project Management window displaying a list of recently opened/saved projects sorted by their “Last Opened” date. To open an existing project, select it from this list and click “Load Selected Project below”. To open a project that isn’t listed, click the “Open Browser” button to open your operating system’s file explorer. From here, you’ll be able to search for and select your project file of choice to open.

The Data Bar’s New “Copy”, “Paste”, and “Save As” Functions

Much like in the Smaart Suite v9.6 Beta, Data Modeler v1.1 boasts reorganized right-click menus. When right-clicking a trace, an exciting new option is now available in the new “Save As” submenu: Not only are you able to save a trace itself in the .trf format, but you are also able to select “.trf post DSP” to save the trace as it’s shown with any DSP applied.

When right-clicking a DSP Channel, you are now presented with new options as well: Previously, the “Copy” and “Paste” options only applied to DSP settings. Now users have the option to copy DSP Channel Settings or the traces within the channel, with corresponding Paste functionalities for each. Additionally, you can now save a DSP channel as either a .trf (trace) or as a target curve.

Average Time Reference (ATR)

This beta also adds an Average Time Reference mechanism to average traces. This appears in the form of a delay value, visible in “trace info”. When a static average is created, the contributing traces’ MTR values are averaged. When a live average is captured, however, the current MTR values for the contributing engines are averaged. The addition of this new piece of trace info means that Smaart Data Modeler is now able to perform Summation on average traces.

Export Project as Powersoft XML

Users of Powersoft DSP, rejoice! Starting with this Beta, Smaart Data Modeler will be able to export DSP settings to an .xml file, which can be imported directly into ArmoníaPlus.

Note: At the time of writing, this feature is confirmed to work with ArmoníaPlus v2.7.

1.    Ensure your Data Modeler project is set to model “Powersoft Adv EQ”.

2.    Set your DSP Channel(s) as desired.

3.    Navigate to File > Export > Project as Powersoft XML and you will be able to choose where to save the file. By default, this is set to Windows’ main Documents folder.

4.    Data Modeler saves your DSP settings in a .zip file, so you’ll need to extract the .xml file within before it’s ready to import.

5.    Open ArmoníaPlus to your desired project (or create a new one).

6.    Click the “Tune” option in the bottom-right, then the “EQ” option and double-click the Group you’d like to apply the DSP settings to.

7.    Click “Import” at the top-right corner of the screen and you’ll be able to find and select your exported .xml file in your file browser. Note: ArmoníaPlus will default to the .iqp filetype. You will need to use the drop-down to change the expected type to .xml or your DSP file won’t be shown for import.
