Creating a DSP Channel From Within Smaart

There are two main ways to create DSP channels from within Smaart Suite/RT/LE for use in Data Modeler. We'll begin with the easier of the two methods.

Right-Click Method

1. Navigate to your Data Bar within Smaart.

2. Right-click the Transfer Function trace you'd like to see in Data Modeler.

3. Click "Create DSP Channel from Selected."

4. Choose to either create a new Data Modeler project for your trace or import it into an already saved project. When choosing to create a new project, you can also select the modeler type (mode), sample rate, and name the project.

5. Clicking "Export" will open a fresh window of Data Modeler with your trace loaded into a DSP channel.

From here, you can manipulate the trace using Data Modeler's DSP and other features. You can also create new DSP channels create sums, and drag new traces into your newly created Data Modeler project.

Drag and Drop Method

The second method for setting up a Data Modeler DSP channel from within Smaart is by simply dragging and dropping a trace from Smaart's Data Bar.

1. Open a new or existing Data Modeler project, selecting your desired number of DSP channels.

2. Open Smaart to its Transfer Function view.

3. Click and drag your traces directly from your window of Smaart into your desired DSP channel. When dragging the file over, you will see the DSP channel become highlighted green and a plus sign overlay will appear.

Note: You can also drag .trf files into a DSP channel from your operating system's file explorer. They are typically located within this folder:

  • On PC: This PC > Documents > Smaart [Edition] > Data > Transfer Function
  • On Mac: Macintosh HD > Documents > Smaart [Edition] > Data > Transfer Function
