Error 515

Error 515

Error 515 is an unintended error within Smaart's third-party licensing system that can sometimes occur when opening multiple versions or editions of Smaart in rapid succession. When this happens, both copies of Smaart try to access the licensing API at the same time, which can cause license corruption.

While Data Modeler and measurement-capable editions of Smaart are intended to be open at the same time and used in tandem, we recommend letting DM fully boot up before opening a second edition of Smaart, and vice-versa.

While it's an uncommon error for users to encounter, our development team is currently working on a fix for this so it no longer happens at all.

If you've encountered an Error 515, please follow these steps to get Data Modeler back up and running:

  • Close Data Modeler and any other copies of Smaart
  • Navigate to the following location:
    • macOS -   (Macintosh HD)/Users/Shared/Ticket
    • Windows - C:\Users\Public\Ticket
  • Delete the "Smaart1DM.Ticket" file
    • (If you are instead encountering this Error message on an edition/version of Smaart besides Data Modeler, please contact support@rationalacoustics.com before taking this action!)
  • Restart computer
    • If on macOS, please uncheck "Reopen windows when logging back in"
  • Open Data Modeler
  • If asked to restore a "Missing Activated License", click 'NO'
  • Where it asks for the license code, click Offline Activation in the bottom-left
  • Log into your https://my.rationalacoustics.com account
  • Click on your Data Modeler license
  • Click [release] and select "My computer was stolen/destroyed/formatted" and fill out the requested info on the following page
  • Click "Submit Request"
  • Continue with Online Activation, as normal

If you are still unable to activate or encounter any further Error messages, please contact support@rationalacoustics.com.

While you can have multiple versions or editions of Smaart installed on the same device, we do not recommend running multiple copies of Smaart simultaneously. (This excludes Data Modeler, which is intended to be able to run alongside Smaart v9.)
