Error 515 is an unintended error that can sometimes occur when opening or activating multiple versions or editions of Smaart simultaneously. Follow the steps below to get Smaart or Data Modeler back up and running.
It is crucial to only open one edition of Smaart at a time when following these steps. All copies of Smaart must be completely closed when activating a new edition.
- Restart your computer. If you are on macOS, uncheck “Reopen windows when logging back in.”
- Download the most recent update for all installed editions of Smaart, including Data Modeler
- After restarting, follow the steps in this article to reset your local Smaart activation for all installed editions of Smaart v9, including Smaart Data Modeler
- Open one edition, and activate the software as you would normally
- Close Smaart completely
- Repeat these steps for other installed editions of Smaart v9, one at a time
If you are unable to activate the software after following these steps, it is possible Smaart's Machine ID has changed. To confirm this, locate the Machine ID. Then log into your my.rationalacoustics.com account, and compare the displayed Machine ID to the one on your online account. If they are different, you can manually remove the computer from your account so you have a free seat to activate the new Machine ID.
If you are having trouble following these steps, or still cannot activate, please submit a ticket.
While Data Modeler and measurement-capable editions of Smaart are intended to be open at the same time and used in tandem, we recommend letting DM fully boot up before opening a second edition of Smaart, and vice-versa.
Unfortunately, Smaart does not support running multiple versions simultaneously, such as Smaart v9 and Smaart v8, or Smaart v9 and Smaart v7.
