This article refers to updates for the same software version, such as Smaart v9.5, v9.6, etc. Upgrades between major versions (such as Smaart v8 to Smaart v9) require downloading and activating the new software for the first time.
As long as "Automatically Check for Updates" has not been unchecked and your computer is connected to the internet, you will be prompted when a new update is available upon launching Smaart. Otherwise, you can check for updates by opening Smaart and clicking File > Check for Updates. We recommend that you close all other programs before updating.
If you cannot open Smaart, or you wish to activate on a computer that is not connected to the internet, you can download the most recent installer from your license management account. If necessary, use a thumb drive or similar method to transfer the installer to an offline computer.
Do not deactivate Smaart before updating. Doing so can result in an error, as your Smaart activation is not removed during the software uninstallation or update process. Removing the old version of the software when updating is optional; the installer will handle this process for you.
If you have trouble with the update process, or problems after updating, submit a ticket and we will be happy to help.
