How to Create SPL Reports in Smaart

Once you've created an SPL log with Smaart, you may want to export it in a conveniently-readable, email-able .pdf format. This is where SPL Reports come in.

Located in SPL mode's Control Bar, the "Create Report" button creates a report file containing a summary of a Source's information for the sound level history graph(s). This source can either be a log file or a live input that is currently being monitored.
Note: When creating a report of a live measurement, only the data captured up until that point will be included and it will not update as the measurement continues. If you create a report mid-measurement, you will need to create another report at the end if you wish to include the rest of the data.

An SPL report can comprise the entire file or live monitoring session or just a specific time range selected in the history display. To select a time range, simply click and drag the two grey sliders shown on the top graph, as shown.

When you click the "Generate Report" button, a dialog window opens where you can enter information such as the name of the event, venue, personnel, etc. All fields are optional, but any information provided will be included in the report file, along with statistical sound levels (L10, L50, L90, and Max) for each sound level metric being monitored.

The report also includes alarm levels, alarm violations, alarm overloads, the software version used for logging, and I/O information. When you click "Create" with "Open file location when done" selected, Smaart will automatically open the folder where the file was written, upon completion.

If "Email Report" is selected when clicking "Create", Smaart will automatically open an email draft with the report attached using your default mail client.

Note: If nothing happens when clicking "Create", you may need to

set your operating system's default email client in system settings.

This is an example of the information included within an SPL report:

The following page includes any notes made during logging as well as data regarding any Alarm violations. An article explaining the Alarm setting process can be found here.

After this page, you'll see a level history chart for all selected metrics, followed by individual history charts for each metric in isolation.
