How to Deactivate Smaart

Before moving Smaart to another device, you will need to deactivate the installation from your existing device to free the seat on your license.

Smaart's licensing system is equipped with a "Deactivate" button that allows you to reclaim an installation spot if a computer will be retired, replaced, or reformatted. Please ensure your computer is connected to the internet before clicking this button, if possible. Smaart SPL lacks this feature, as it is considered a one-time use license. If you happen to have a computer with a Smaart SPL license that has been stolen, damaged beyond use, or retired, reach out to support@rationalacoustics.com and we can remove the license on our end.

The only time you do not want to deactivate Smaart beforehand is if you will be restoring any previous data via cloning, imaging, or migration software. Smaart's licensing does not support the use of this software, as explained in further detail here.

Online Deactivation

1. If possible, please ensure your computer is connected to the internet. This will ensure that any account changes will be communicated with the licensing server.

2. Open Smaart, go to the "About" menu for the program and click the "Deactivate Installation" button.

3. After confirming that you want to deactivate, Smaart will attempt to contact our server and complete the deactivation. If the attempt was successful, then deactivation is complete! Please do not uninstall Smaart on the deactivated machine until you have confirmed the deactivation on my.ratioanalacoustics.com.

Offline Deactivation

If Smaart is unable to contact our server when you click "Deactivate Installation", you will see a screen similar to this one:

From here, there are a few more steps to fully deactivate:

1. Take note of the Block Code and Machine ID. This is the only place you will be able to see your Block Code, as it is generated from within Smaart.

If you lose track of either piece of info, do not fret: If you've inadvertently closed the screen shown above without recording either number (or have them written down incorrectly) you can always view them again by attempting to open Smaart. Upon doing so, they will be displayed on the activation screen. (Note: You may need to click the "Offline Activation" button to make this info reappear)

Please do not uninstall Smaart on the deactivated machine until you have confirmed the deactivation.

2. Open up your web browser and go to my.rationalacoustics.com.

3. Login to you account using your account name and password.

4. Click "Your Software Licenses" on the navigation bar at the top of the page.

5. Click on your Smaart v9 license number and find the Machine ID that you wish to deactivate in your list of current installations.

6. Click [Release] in the "Action" column.

7. Click "I Have a Block Code for Smaart".

8. Enter the Block Code from Smaart along with your name and email address in the fields provided, then click the "Release Installation". Your available installations will increase by 1 following a successful deactivation.
