I purchased a new Subscription; how do I activate Smaart with it?


When a new Subscription license is purchased, Smaart won't know and can't automatically switch to the new license. Instead, please follow these steps to remove the previous activation:


  • Close Smaart
  • Navigate to the following directory:
    • macOS - (MachintoshHD)/Users/Shared/Ticket
    • Windows - C:\Users\Public\Ticket
  • Delete the "Ticket" file corresponding to the Edition that was previously activated
    • The file is named "Smaart9__Sub.Ticket" file, where __ is the Smaart Edition (Suite, RT, LE, SPL)
  • Restart your computer
    • If on macOS, please uncheck "Reopen windows when logging back in" if prompted
  • Ensure your device is connected to the Internet
    • Please also temporarily disable any VPN or firewall services to ensure Smaart can reach the licensing web server*
  • Open Smaart again
  • If asked to restore a "Missing Activated License", please click "NO"
  • Click Subscription on the right
  • Proceed through normal activation using the new license code


If you run into any issues during this process, please submit a support ticket.


* We've recently noticed that Apple's Private Relay may prevent your device from connecting to the licensing server. Please turn off Private Relay during activation (you can re-enable afterwards).
