Are Smaart v8 / Di v2 / SPL v1 compatible on devices using the new Apple Silicon CPUs?

Yes, Smaart v8, Di v2, and SPL are compatible with Apple Silicon CPUs (M1, M2, etc.) based computers through Rosetta translation.

Rosetta is a compatibility layer that macOS uses to automatically translate a binary that’s compiled for Intel CPUs into a binary that supports Apple Silicon. The process for running Smaart on an Apple Silicon Mac is simple: complete the normal Smaart installation process, then on first launch macOS will show a prompt like the one pictured below. Click “Install”. The installation will take less than a minute on a broadband internet connection. When the installation finishes, Smaart can be launched.

If the Rosetta prompt does not appear, it means that Rosetta has already been installed and no further action is required.

If the prompt to install Rosetta does not come up, but it isn't already installed on your system, there is a way to manually launch the installer using the command line (Terminal):

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

During our compatibility tests we observed no appreciable difference in performance when running Smaart through Rosetta compared to previous-generation Intel-based Macs of similar models.

Important!! As always, it is critical that you ensure your audio device has Apple Silicon compatible drivers, as an incompatible driver may not be recognized by Smaart or may cause Smaart to crash. Please check your audio device manufacturer's website for compatible driver updates.
