Smaart v6 "Corrupt" Error in Windows

If you receive the error "This copy of Smaart has become corrupt. Please reinstall." in Windows but it isn't resolved by reinstalling the software, then it is likely your configuration files have become corrupted.

First, try reinstalling Smaart v6. If it unsuccessful, then follow the steps below to delete Smaart v6's configuration.

This will clear any configuration data, so you will need to set-up your devices and measurements again after opening the program.

  • Navigate to the following folder: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Smaart
  • Delete the "sm6user.plist" file
  • Navigate to the following folder: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Smaart 6\Data
  • Delete the "sm6app.plist" file

Note: The "AppData" folder is hidden by default in Windows. It can be accessed by allowing hidden folders to be seen or by typing "%APPDATA%" (without quotes) into the Windows Explorer address bar or a Run dialog.

Once you have deleted these files, open up Smaart v6 and it should run.

This is different from the error of the same name in macOS, which cannot be resolved in MacOS 10.7 (Lion) or newer.
