My computer crashed/exploded/was stolen/run over, how can I get my installation spot back?

If your computer crashed or is otherwise inaccessible, and Smaart can no longer be accessed to deactivate normally (Help > About > Deactivate this Installation), please send us an email (mailto:support@rationalacoustics.com) explaining the situation and we will work on getting the installation spot freed on your license. Please make sure that you include your license number and the machine ID that needs to be removed. This information can be found under your account at https://my.rationala...

Why is Smaart deactivated on my computer but not on the website?

When Smaart is deactivated, it sends a message out across the internet to our licensing server in an attempt to deactivate your machine ID from your license. If that connection fails, Smaart will present a Block Code that can be used to manually "Release" the machine ID from your license via the web interface. First, copy the Block Code from within Smaart. If you've already closed Smaart, simply reopen it and you will be presented with the Machine ID and Block Code. Next, log into ...

My computer runs two operating systems, can I install Smaart on both?

If you have multiple operating systems installed on your computer, and you want to have Smaart installed and activated on each, you will need one installation spot for each operating system instance. The operating system is one of the many components used to generate the machine ID, so although the operating systems share the same hardware they will be assigned different machine IDs. If you are not using a virtual machine program (such as Parallels) and are instead dual-booting two separate operating systems, please note that Smaart cannot share configuration files as they are specific to each device. If you are having issues using Smaart on a dual-boot machine, please create a support ticket or email us at support@rationalacoustics.com

Should I deactivate Smaart prior to upgrading my operating system?

If you plan to upgrade your operating system (i.e Win 7→Win 10, El Capitan→OS Sierra) we highly suggested that you leave Smaart activated and email us (mailto:support@rationalacoustics.com) if you run into any problems after the upgrade. Smaart should only be deactivated if the computer is going to be completely formatted*, if the operating system is being reinstalled completely*, or if the computer is going to be decommissioned from use. Furthermore, if you plan to clone or migrate you...
